LEAVE YOUR REVIEWAlbert Bichot offers numerous wines of a various quality. This Moulin-a-Vent from 2016 is one of the best Beaujolais I know. It is powerful, balanced and slightly spicy. Raspberry, thyme and cherry dominate. Happily I still have some bottles left in my cellar.
Drank this over 3-4 days, it felt a bit closed on the first, thin the second, and it finally opened up on the third day. There's very little age on the wine, the freshness and fruits are still there, it could easily go for another 5 years. The wine is elegant and fruity, a nice day sipper.
A very good wine, refined, subtle, fruity with just the right amount of acidity. We tasted it with friends with a raclette, the association is very good. It is thanks to this type of wine that I like Beaujolais. Especially since the price is very correct for a wine of this quality!
The "Maison Albert Bichot" was founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot and it was his grandson, Albert, who gave it a new awakening at the end of the 19th century. Since 1996, the management of the Maison has been ensured by the sixth generation in the person of Albéric Bichot. The house has 100 hectares of vines which are exploited in a sustainable way, supplemented by purchases of grapes and musts. The estate has completely transformed its approach to growing vines, by pruning shorter, working the soil (plowing) and green harvesting when necessary, leaving only 6 bunches per vine. The house has an impressive range of Grands Crus and Premiers Crus. Those from the Côte de Nuits are vinified and aged at the Clos Frantin estate. Those of the Côte de Beaune are at the Domaine du Pavillon.
