The vines of Château Mauvesin Barton are located in the communal appellation of Moulis, halfway between Margaux and Saint-Julien. The smallest appellation in the Médoc with 610 hectares, it nevertheless concentrates exceptional terroirs and skilfully juggles its outcrops of pure gravel, its rich clay soils and its limestone subsoils. The Viscount and Viscountess Alain de Baritault du Carpia, heirs of the Le Blanc de Mauvesin, ceded the property on August 4, 2011 to Lilian and Michel Barton-Sartorius. For eight generations, the Barton family has owned the Classified Growths Langoa Barton and Léoville Barton located in the Saint-Julien appellation.
