CHÂTEAU DE JAU

In the heart of the Agly valley, in the Roussillon hinterland, the Château de Jau has been owned by the Dauré family since 1974. Founded in the 12th century by Cistercian monks, the owners have succeeded each other over the centuries. Of the Cistercian constructions, only the square tower remains today, listed as a historical monument. The mansion was rebuilt in 1789, in a neoclassical style, which gave a more noble look to the house. Thus, Jau was renamed Château de Jau. The property now has around one hundred hectares of vines, as well as 500 hectares of scrubland.
