LEAVE YOUR REVIEWTroplong Mondot is a must for any lover of great Saint Emilion wines. Like any good 1er Cru, its potential will be revealed in 10 to 25 years. I was able to taste it at the domain, this 2015 is already excellent. The bottle I bought will be kept in my cellar for a special occasion.
A marvel! An incredibly good and complex wine... Despite an incredible ageing potential, this grand cru is already ready to be enjoyed... The nose is powerful and intriguing... Powerful fruit aromas...
Still quite young, this blend with a predominance of the Merlot variety already shows enormous complexity combined with a huge, robust structure, classic aromas of blackberries, blueberries and cedar with a very long, balsamic finish. Great wine.
Château Troplong Mondot is produced from a clay-limestone terroir. Powerful, structured and with full, complex tannins, it opens up with time giving strong aromas of truffle and blackberry. In 1985, the quality standards at Troplong Mondot were supported by their rigorous selection for its great wines. Dominating the whole of the north-east area of the Saint-Emilion region, the Mondot hilltop rises to a height of 100 metres. In a region where the majority of the estates hardly go beyond 10 hectares, Troplong Mondot is one of the "large" domaines in Saint-Emilion with its 33 hectares.
