In 1931 the château was purchased by Adèle and Jean Moueix. Their great-grandson, Alain Moueix, inherited it from his father and has managed the estate since 2001. From the off, he implemented the now-certified biodynamic practices, an approach that puts organic knowledge and observation at the centre of improvements to the vineyard.Alain Moueix is an agricultural wine-maker and engineer. For him, prioritising the harmonious working of these twenty hectares of generous land remains of primary importance. Great attention is paid to the longevity of the soil and the enhancement of the terroir to deepen understanding of organic trends and their pragmatic application. The aim is to unveil the radiance and balance of his wines following mindful approaches. Eighteen years of collaboration with the Bordeaux wine merchant and as many years' enthusiastic, exploratory work have developed both the estate and those who work towards the transition to organic and biodynamic agriculture. A journey that demands patience and drive. One that has given this estate the status of first Grand Cru Classé with a biodynamic certification. It produces very good Saint-Emilion wines whose international reputation and recognition are constantly growing.The developmental and transformation challenges have brought the Château to life. And its future under the ownership of the Guillard family since July 2017 is evident. For the family biodynamic practices are fundamental and Alain Moueix's expertise in them is critical.
